How I started out in business

Hi my name is christian woods managing director and owner of Spitfirematrix Edge. We are a Search Engine Marketing/Management firm with a very reputable name in the industry. Before founding the company back in 2005 I was becoming a very disillusioned corporate boss. I had lost inspiration and passion as the needs of others above scrambled to boost their own ego's. Even though I was quite well rewarded at levels of State Manager and eventual General Manager positions I couldn't believe the continual greed and total disregard for others in the organisation. Corporate salaries and bonuses were out of control. Companies were surviving beyond their means, it was stupid times and we all know the eventual outcome of that rubbish.

I did not enter the corporate world with that intention in mind. Basically I had joined the Air Force at the age of 16. I wanted to be a fighter pilot ever since I was very young. That was my dream job. I was excepted into Pilot Training after spending another year in Uni completing further education in Physics. At 17 my dream job had finally started and I was about to step into a jet for the first time, I couldn't believe it, I was popping out of my skin ready at 0300 in the morning all neatly dressed in my uniform for an 0700 start. Well I got to my Base and fronted up to the flying wing ready to start. Bam! I quickly learnt that it wasn't going to start like that at all, Oh no, my mind had left out all of the bits and pieces you have to learn before you even get your bum in a jet. It was going to be another 6 months before I will even smell the kerosene burn.

I eventually flew the jets, helicopters, right the way up to 747's before falling very ill. I needed a liver transplant and I needed one quick. After 20 years of enjoying the best job in the world, my career ended right there. I was effectively out of a job and also a life style. After 2 years of aimlessly wondering around, trying to fill the void, I ended up in the corporate sector and there starts, how I started in my own business.

During my corporate years I had managed to complete a Masters In Business Administration and completed a whole range of technological studies plus sales & marketing. I Also learnt about Internet Marketing , advertising online using PPC (pay per click) and SEO (search engine optimisation). This all started my creative juices flowing and I became interested in starting my own business and to leave the corporate rubbish way behind me.

I contacted a few friends in the USA and talked about how we could make something happen for us. I had hand picked the guys I wanted to be involved. This was the criteria I used. Firstly they needed to be out of work and actively looking, needed to know and understand internet marketing, needed drive and passion and lastly needed to be mobile with a computer. I welcomed my friends on board , Paul (Pauley), Jamie (Jim Jim), and Deon (French).

My very own business Spitfirematrix Edge was now born. As a company the boy's run the USA side of the company and I look after our interests here in Australia. We have now gone global with our services to small and large business and our core focus is PPC Campaign Management, SEO Campaign Management and website design/construction. We are about to launch another arm to our business which will be called "Lead Pay" where by we find the leads for a client and they pay us for that lead/s. The leads will be qualified in various ways to ensure the strength of that lead will become a determined value or cost. My passion is back and the business is increasing. SpitfireMatrix Edge will always push the status quo of our industry and we will always present a product that is easy to implement & use. Why?... because we're just good at it.
